IT’S SHOW TIME!! , ITS SHOW TIME!!
Each year we have a theme and the focus this year is “From Trees to Timber”. The Adelaide Axemen will be doing wood chopping and crosscut sawing on the northern end of the oval. Kevin Gilder chainsaw artist will be carving “Lucy” the dog from a piece of pine. Noel Curtis and Andrew Mazzone will demonstrate red gum slabbing. Paul Morgan – Morgan’s Saw Sharpening Service – will demonstrate saw sharpening. Tim and Raelene Flannery will demonstrate log splitting with their “ Haiki Pilki” firewood processor. The Table Tennis Centre will have displays by local builders Paul & Greg Farr and floor sanding and renovation by David Box . Eldon and Mary Zimmermann will have a range of their hand made miniature horse drawn vehicles and their little people , Graham Hall is displaying his wood turned articles while Jack Simpson is displaying wooden rocking horses and children’s toys. Geoff & Anne-Marie have beautiful timber furniture for sale featuring, bookcases, loveseats, coffee tables, vege racks, CD racks and small cupboards. Trees for Life will be present and Dick French who makes rustic furniture, animals and picture frames from fallen tree branches - both will be in the small trade’s area west of the Table Tennis Centre. The auction returns this year and will commence approx 4-30pm at the Round House. Items to be auctioned are a painted circular saw blade with horses pulling logs of wood. This will be on display in Stacey Pavilion and bids can be left in the Secretary’s Office up to 4pm. Other items to be auctioned are fire wood, slabbed red gum and pine bark.

performances during the day. Glasgow House is staging the Fashion Parades at the usual times 11am and 3pm in the Table Tennis Centre. Children’s Entertainment is a feature this year with the Magician and Balloon Twister back performing in the Table Tennis Centre and roving the show grounds. Free face painting near the Secretary’s Office and a free Rock Climbing Wall on the oval. The Showman’s Guild will be at the show with a new ride “The Hurricane” along with the usual show games and rides. For the first time we will have the NAC YAC Treasure Trail leaving and ending in the foyer of Stacey Pavilion. This is being organised by the Northern Areas Council, Youth Advisory Committee and for a small fee children can take part in this activity and meander around the show grounds collecting goodies at designated stalls. The ANZ bank is again sponsoring the Children’s Colouring Competition, forms can be obtained from the secretary. The Jamestown CFS and local ambulance service - SAAS Jamestown Volunteers, will demonstrate a mock extrication on the northern end of the oval after the axemen have finished at approx 2 pm. This will take approx 30 minutes. Animals are always a feature at the show, with horses in action on the oval all day, while cattle , merino sheep, fat lambs, dogs, poultry, pigeons and children’s pets and wool will be on display in their pavilions. The Burra & Districts Dog Obedience Club will be doing demonstrations and drills from 1pm to 3pm in the area used for dog judging. ( near the Round House). Sheep shearing is always popular . This year Shear Magic the major sponsors are hosting the “Shear Magic Open Championship” with the draw at 12noon.
Again we have a large number of local business’ supporting the show with displays of farm machinery, motor vehicles , tyres and batteries and camper trailers and tools. The Big Shed will again have small trades on display , Kindergym will be on display and for a small fee tiny children can have a go. Futsal will be demonstrated several times during the day.

Country Hour Presenter , will open our show in the
Table Tennis Centre at 12noon. She is
also judging the Men’s Chocolate Cake Competition in
the foyer of Stacey Pavilion at 2pm. The Caltowie Harmony Choir is singing the National Anthem. Our Rural Ambassador Isabelle Swearse will be introduced at the opening. Stacey Pavilion will showcase the cooking, flowers, craft, art, knitting, patchwork ,needlework, jams, preserves, pot plants, fruit, vegetables, photography, agricultural produce and eggs. Trade sites will also be located at various areas around the grounds. No Show happens without the wonderful support of local organisation providing food stalls. We are very grateful to our sponsors, Wardle & Co Jamestown, Morgan’s Saw Mill, Landmark Jamestown , Elders Jamestown and business’ and individuals too numerous to mention for their sponsorship of service, trophies, prize money and ribbons. The Committee also acknowledges the Jamestown Swimming Club for gate management, Apex & Lions for providing refreshments at the Round House and the many, many volunteers who work so hard to make this event happen.
